On June 18, 2026, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) issued NOT-OD-26-087 requesting input on approaches to measure and incentivize scientific impact. This Request for Information (RFI) seeks feedback from the research community on “defining specific, measurable indicators and incentives” in support of NIH’s agency-wide Replication and Reproducibility Initiative. NIH welcomes comments on all potential indicators and is particularly interested in input related to: rigor and reproducibility; data, software, and model sharing; training and mentorship; collaboration; entrepreneurship and translation; foundational scientific exploration; and public impact. Submit comments on the Comment Form on the NIH website no later than August 19, 2026.
