Starting on Sunday, October 27, 2024, NSF will require accountholders to utilize multi-factor authentication (MFA) when signing into Research.gov.  (Please see NSF’s Dear Colleague Letter: NSF 25-011.)  NSF will be releasing more information on 10/27, including how-to guides and FAQs, as well as a new About Signing Into Research.gov page on Research.gov Help.

NSF Credentials (Primary Email Address/NSF ID and Password):

NSF has provided a document entitled “Multifactor Authentication Options for Research.gov Sign-in” outlining which MFA options will be available to accountholders with certain system roles when signing in with NSF Credentials.  Accountholders with administrative and financial roles will be required to use phishing-resistant MFA options when signing in with NSF Credentials.

Organization Credentials (e.g. UCLA Single Sign-On) will still be available for accessing Research.gov. 

You can find UCLA quickly by entering “los” in the Pick Your Organization field:
